The Horse Whisperer - After her daughter is critically hurt in a horse riding accident, her well-off mother takes the horse to a famous horse whisperer in Montana. A romance between the two follows.

Sugar Town - Enjoyable variety of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives fit together - a musician wannabe who'll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the inappropriate men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although clever and well recognized; tremendous cast contains a number of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes, 1999)

Happy Gilmore - Hockey player Happy Gilmore finds his slap shot power translates into 400 yard plus drives in golf. Needing money to help his grandma save her home, he is going to try pro golf. His putting is as awful as his driving is good, so he has a lot to learn. Overcoming all odds, Happy wins the tour championship and now can save grandma's house.

Ivan the Terrible - Continuance of the fable of King Ivan IV, in which he takes on the boyars in a fight for power. Extraordinary film is just a hint underneath its predecessor, Forbidden by Stalin due to debatable illustration of Ivan's secret patrol, and not released till 1958. Cast includes Nikolai Cherkassov; Serafima Birman, Mikhail Nazvanov, Pavel Kadochnikov, and Andrei Abrikosov. (88 minutes, 1946)

Solar Crisis - Futuristic sci-fi thriller with Matheson leading a save the Earth mission to the sun to stop a solar flash from annihilating the world. Fine visual effects and exciting story in space harmed by world pranks of poor boy Boyle who ridiculously wants to weaken the mission. Cast includes Tim Matheson, Charlton Heston, Peter Boyle, and Annabel Schofield. (112 minutes, 1990)

Big Trouble in Little China - Buddy Blowhard trucker Russell finds himself at large in Chinatown, while a pal's fiance is abducted right in front of his eyes. High tech Indiana Jones fashion adventure has huge tongue-in-cheek demeanor, however everything else in reference to it is huge, too including Russell's John Wayne strut. Excellent electric music score. The cast includes Kurt Russell, Kim Cattrall, Dennis Dun, James Hong, Champ Wong, and Kate Burton. (99 minutes, 1986)
