Oil Rigging Jobs- The Worthwhile Choice

In the oil work field there is still a lot of growth, even with the growth of renewable energy. As you work in the oil field you will see how fossil based fuels are just as important as ever, and you will see the numerous positions available and the wonderful benefits you can receive while working there.

When you work offshore, you will be on the rig for months on end, with operations running 24/7. Most companies incorporate a--/21 day rotation wherein have-- days on-shift, then 21 days off-shift. Therefore, the oil companies take real good care of their people. One of the benefits of oil work is to have accommodations that are similar to a five star hotel. Board, meals, laundry, transportation and transfers are all taken care of by the employer. Most of the offshore oilrigs jobs will work you physically, while others are more the administrative and support type of position, as well as catering. Entry-level jobs will start around $50K annually, while other positions start at around $70K annually.

* Radio Operator - One of the easier jobs to handle, the op is in charge of communications, needs to hold a GMDSS Radio Operator License and is also responsible for helicopter logistics, lifeboats and muster lists. * Chef or Cook - every day cooking duties * Roustabout - general duties, supplies equipment and tools requests, assists crane operator. * Barge Engineer - in charge of the control room * Derrickman operates and maintains the mud, pumps and all equipment in the pump room. Also assists roughnecks. * Drilling Engineer - supervisor of the drilling operations, systems and procedures. * Diver - carries out the underwater tasks directed by the subsea engineer or assistant. Inspects and repairs submarine installations and machinery. * Electricians - in charge of all things electric * Catering Manager - has culinary school qualifications and is in charge of the galley.

Prepare Yourself

You don't want to arrive on an offshore rig without being prepared for it. This means, first of all, that everything back home is squared away, since it can be expensive to get in touch with anyone back on land. You should have all of your required immunizations, and the corresponding paper work in hand, as well as all other needed documents. Then, of course, don't be foolish enough to bring any sort of illegal goods on board, and alcohol should be left behind, as well. Be considerate of people on board, and don't interrupt them particularly if they have jobs that are there to ensure everyone's safety, such a radio operator. Last of all, remember that you will probably work with an international group, so if you can speak some words in another language, that's all the better.

You can look online at the job boards such as Monster, although nearly every oil companies do not endorse themselves there. To a certain extent, online web searches through powerhouses such as Bing, Google or Yahoo with a phrase similar to " oil rig jobs " or you can patrol the websites of oil companies for current openings. Full remuneration are offered, including room, board and meals. Get prepared to hit the roadway; the oil work job is set and awaiting!
