Doing A Good Car Wash Yourself

By Jacky Tsan

Most of us wish to keep our car in the best possible condition and like to see it shining as new for years after buying it. If you are a car enthusiast and desire to take good care of your car, then along with regular maintenance, regular car washes are necessary too.

All that you need for a good self car wash is some good accessories and a few easy to follow steps as discussed below. First, begin with a brisk hose down of your car to remove most of the dust and grime. The next step involves soaping the roof with a quality brand of car wash shampoo.

Do not use kitchen cleaners, no matter how effective they prove to be with your greasy dishes. These will abrade the wax and glaze from your vehicle and make it appear dull. There are several good car shampoos available in the market, just make sure to choose a good quality one.

Ensure that the sponge you use is fairly fresh and clean, otherwise you will end up adding more grime on your vehicle than taking away from it. Use micro fibre mitts to make sure you don't scrape the gloss away with your vigorous rubbing.

Once you are through cleaning the roof, you can then go to the hood, the rear and the sides, in the same order and repeat the process. After you are sure that you have soaped and scrubbed to your satisfaction, use the water hose once more to wash off the vehicle thoroughly. However, your task is still not over as you have to give a final touch to the car.

Leaving your vehicle in standing in the sunlight after just having cleaned it will result in water marks all over the surface of the car. Therefore, you must use a piece of chamois leather to wipe it properly so that it sparkles with a new found lustre.

The end result of the entire activity will be nothing short of a professional car wash and you are certain to be pleased with all your effort and labour.
