Affiliate Marketing: Highly Efficient, Highly Effective and Very Cost-Effective

By Greg Simon

The Internet has fast become an efficient and trusted way for companies to market and sell their product. One of the reasons for this has been the rise of "Affiliated Marketing" - which is when a website directs traffic to itself through adverts on other (usually related) websites.

There are different modes of payment for the affiliate. One scheme is known as pay-per-click scheme, where the affiliate gets a commission for every clicks the merchant's ad generates in his/her (affiliate) site. On the other hand, there is the Pay-Per-Sale system, wherein the affiliate gets his share of profits when the ad he/she posted made an actual sale or subscription. Generally, this Pay-Per-Sale or Cost-Per-Sale / CPS is the best scheme available for the affiliate and merchant alike.

Four years after the World Wide Web made its debut launch, is the same period that the Affiliate Marketing industry started. It's success was due to the CDNOW online purchasing system, which was followed by Amazon.com. Google also has a similar system which is mostly perceived as a part of Affiliated Marketing. With Adsense, they do not include the service of directly selling a specific product. They generate profits in other ways.

Since affiliate marketing is highly effective, highly efficient and cost-effective, it is a favorite choice amongst the merchants and affiliates. It has the capacity to generate huge profits for both the merchant and the affiliate without having to pay any fees. The only time a merchant and affiliate do a transaction is when a sale took place.

Merchants usually avoid Cost-Per-Click or Pay-Per-Click because of the frauds that I have mentioned above. Since in this system, merchants are forced to invest money without the guarantee of reeling-in sales. In effect, the merchants would rather use CPS or Cost Per Sale system, because it has no risk at all for both the merchant and affiliate.
